Hi, I’m Sue — the heart, hands, and maker behind Beads on Backroads 🤍
Every piece you see here is handmade by me, with care, intention, and a love for the simple things in life.
Beads on Backroads grew from two things I cherish most: creating pretty little accessories by hand, and travelling Australia with my husband — taking the long way, exploring quiet towns, and soaking up life along the backroads. While we’re based in Echuca, Victoria, my heart is never far from the open road. Whether we’re parked up somewhere new or home for a while, I’m always creating — and that’s where the magic really happens.
My designs are inspired by the colours, textures, and calm of the Australian landscape, and each piece is made to be worn, used, and loved every day. From beaded bracelets and wristlets to key rings and lanyards, everything is thoughtfully handmade — sometimes in Echuca, and sometimes wherever the road takes us.
Whether you’re choosing something special for yourself or finding the perfect gift, my hope is that each piece carries a little sense of adventure, warmth, and connection — just like life on the backroads.

My Story
Beads on Backroads began as a simple love for creating things by hand and has grown into something much more meaningful. For me, it’s about slowing down, appreciating the little details, and finding beauty in everyday moments — whether that’s at the kitchen table in Echuca or somewhere along a quiet country road.
Handmaking has always been a creative outlet, but it truly came to life while travelling Australia with my husband. Exploring new places, meeting people along the way, and watching the landscape change mile by mile has deeply influenced the way I create. The colours, textures, and calm of the Australian outdoors are woven into every piece I make.
Every item at Beads on Backroads is handmade with care, using quality materials and thoughtful design. I believe in creating pieces that feel practical, meaningful, and easy to wear — accessories that become part of your everyday life, not just something that sits in a drawer.
